(CNS Local Life): The Youth Services Unit (YSU) has opened applications for people interested in becoming Cayman Islands Youth Ambassadors. The YSU is looking for “dynamic and community-minded Caymanian youth” between the ages of 18 and 27, for the programme, whose goal is to prepare young people for present and future leadership roles.

Youth Services Coordinator James Myles said of the ambassador initiative: “Our greatest responsibility in this life is to be good ancestors. We are the dynamic link between the past and future. The aim is quite straightforward: to enjoy what we have inherited, and to make the Cayman Islands a better place for the youth of today and for those of generations to come.”

All young Caymanians may apply, whether they are just starting college on-island, beginning a job, returning from college or still studying overseas. Successful candidates should be able to represent local youth when on school breaks or at weekend conferences.

Three males and three females will be chosen as ambassadors. The deadline for applications is Friday, 15 February.

Application forms and further information are available online on the YouthFlex Facebook page or by emailing James Myles at james.myles@gov.ky
