(CNS Local Life): The International College of the Cayman Islands (ICCI) is adding a General Education Diploma (GED) prep programme to the master’s, bachelor’s and associate’s degrees it offers. The new curriculum, which will prepare students to take GED Certificate exams in maths, English, science and US social studies, offers the opportunity to receive the internationally recognised high school diploma.

ICCI said in a press release that the administrators “understand that more and more employers are requiring high school diplomas and college level qualifications, for even entry level jobs, making this initiative very relevant for job seekers today”.

The diploma is issued by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education in Washington, DC, and qualifies students to continue on to tertiary studies or seek entry-level jobs, ICCI said in the release.

ICCI is an official Pearson VUE test centre, which allows students upon completion of their studies in the GED prep programme to register to take the test in Cayman. The diploma will be issued online for the student to download and present as an official document.

The ICCI test centre also offers other standardised exams enabling people to avoid travelling overseas to take the tests, including College Board and Kryterion.
