(CNS Local Life): Caribbean Journal, a website covering regional trade and travel news, has named Cayman Airways among the winners of its annual Travellers Choice awards voted on by its readers, with the national carrier earning the “Best Airline” award. The company said that thousands of the website’s subscribers voted in this year’s awards, with the nominees chosen by the editorial staff.

Fabian Whorms, Cayman Airways president and CEO, said in a press release, “Having recently celebrated our 50th anniversary as the national airline of the Cayman Islands, it has truly been a very exciting time for our dedicated Cayman Airways family, as well as for our loyal customers.”

This year, Cayman Airways was also named “Best Airline in the Caribbean” and a top “Specialty and Leisure Airline” in North America in TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice awards.

“Generations of Cayman Airways employees have dedicated much of their lives to building our national airline to where it is today, many of them for their entire careers, and these international and regional awards are testament to the steadfast foundation that has been built, and to the ongoing hard work and commitment of approximately 400 employees with us today,” Whorms added.

The CEO said that the airline’s success would not have been possible without its loyal customers, stated the release. “Cayman Airways has transported millions of passengers over the years, and we are deeply appreciative of their continued support and loyalty,” he said.

The Caribbean Journal, the state of the art industry journal where the Cayman Islands coverage includes breaking news about the approval of the Ironwood Development, the prospective launch of a Margaritaville branded hotel and the acquisition of Beach Suites by Dart. And the home page Editors Note talks about Hurricane Irma – as something that happened last week. With cutting edge news stories like that, I am curious as to how they managed to find thousands of readers to vote on their survey (which incidentally you cant access from the home page or any of the menu options).
