(CNS Local Life): More than 200 human resource and business professionals, representing both the public and private sectors, attended the annual conference of the Cayman Islands Society for Human Resources Professionals (CISHRP), held 30-31 May. “We were really pleased with the attendance this year and believe that there are many members of the community who can gain value from this type of forum,” said Elisa Brown, CISHRP president.

“The conference, now in its 16th year, provides HR professionals with an avenue to exchange ideas, discuss challenges, share experiences and of course, is an invaluable networking opportunity for all business professionals,” she added in a press release.

Noting that the conference “continues to grow every year”, Brown said, “The landscape of HR is ever-changing and this conference can go a long way in helping HR professionals to keep up with the market trends and adapt to the new landscape.”

The event attracted both local and overseas speakers. Jill Dark, the Director of Leadership and Organizational Transformation at Steelcase, based in the US state of Michigan, and Tim McConnell, managing partner at McConnell HR Consulting, based in Ontario, Canada, spoke at the conference.

Locally, the speakers included Deputy Governor Franz Manderson, Wesley Howell of Workforce Opportunities and Residency Cayman, Pilar Bush of Dart Enterprises, Shomari Scott of Health City Cayman Islands and Luke Murray of KPMG.

Next year’s conference is slated to take place in May; CISHRP membership is not required to attend the event. For more information go to the CISHRP Facebook page
