(CNS Local Life): EY Cayman has donated US$10,000 to Jasmine (formerly Cayman HospiceCare) to help finance its mission of providing care to people in the Cayman Islands living with long-term or end-stage conditions. The facility offers support to people experiencing debilitating pain, as well as specialist comprehensive hospice care to those living with life-limiting illness.

The charity, which provides its services free to all Cayman residents, offers support for patients as well as family members, caregivers and loved ones.

“We’re incredibly thankful for the generous donation from EY as it allows us to continue to provide the much-needed medical support to our patients and their families free of charge,” said Felicia McLean, Jasmine director of operations and nursing, in a press release. “What many don’t realise is the wide range of services the organisation provides, including hospice, respite and palliative care, which allows the organisation to help even more individuals.”

McLean added that EY’s donation would be used to advance the training of facility staff thus ensuring that the standard of care continues to be world class.

“Jasmine goes above and beyond in providing exceptional care to the many Caymanian residents that require their services, and we’re proud to support an organisation so dedicated to helping others,” said Keiran Hutchison, EY partner. “We’re committed to giving back to our community and Jasmine is an excellent example of a charity helping to improve the quality of life across the Cayman Islands.”

Jasmine, however, requires additional financial support as the demand from patients and families continues to grow along with the Cayman Islands community. Both McField and Hutchison said they hoped that other organisations and individuals will donate to Jasmine “so this vital community service can continue to support people in need”, the release stated.

Recently, thanks to the support of many individuals and businesses across Cayman, the organisation was able to open its new care and operations facility fitted with rooms for palliative and hospice patients, a common area and peaceful garden space. The facilities complement the many services that Jasmine offers directly in the home.
