New faces at Cayman Heart Fund

Angelique Bodden

(CNS Local Life): Cayman Heart Fund (CHF) has added a coordinator and three board members to the organisation to assist the non-profit in its goal of reducing of heart and circulatory disease, known collectively as cardiovascular disease (CVD) and the number one health problem in the Cayman Islands. Joining the team are Angelique Bodden as the coordinator and new members of the board Ailian Evans, Barrie Quappe and Teri Quappe.

Bodden is Caymanian native and a real estate professional, with an extensive professional background in finance and management, CHF said in a press release. She has been dedicated to customer service, marketing and sales for more than a decade.

Bodden is also a certified personal trainer and is in the process of obtaining her youth fitness trainer certification. The mother of two enjoys helping children to find themselves and one day hope to start a gym specialising in the nutrition and fitness of children.

Ailian Evans

Evans was born in Manzanillo, Cuba, and moved to the Cayman Islands almost 15 years ago with her husband, Sean. She is a ‘heart mom’; her son Nolan passed away on 25 January 2018 at just seven months old due to a complex congenital heart defect (CHD). Since Nolan’s passing Ailian, her husband and their daughter, Ashlyn, known as Team Nolan, embarked on a mission to raise CHD awareness and funds for local families with CHD babies.

Her larger and now annual initiatives are the KIDFEST events and Heart Warriors & Angels Beach Walk held each February during CHD awareness week. Team Nolan has to date raised more than $46,000 in donations to the Cayman Heart Fund.

In September 2018 Evans was awarded the Cayman Heart Fund Award in appreciation for Team Nolan’s outstanding effort and contribution. She has been employed in the private banking industry for more than 13 years.

Barrie Quappe

Barrie Quappe is a director/consultant who helps owners of medical facilities meet and exceed the national standards for healthcare facilities in the Cayman Islands. Previously, she pioneered the role of health practice and facility inspector for the Department of Health Regulatory Services, setting policies and procedures for inspections of healthcare facilities on all three islands.

After a career as a cardiovascular specialist nurse, with experience in the US and both local hospitals, Quappe was an analyst for the Complaints Commission (now the Office of the Ombudsman) working on various investigations.

She now guides and encourages healthcare facility owners to update their policies and other requirements in the Health Practice Law. She has served on various medical-related boards such as the Health Services Authority and Nursing and Midwifery Council, and teaches CPR at St Matthews University.

Teri Quappe

Teri Quappe, who will serve as one of CHF’s fundraising events coordinators, is in real estate sales and also a filmmaker, earning a bachelor of arts degree in practical film making at MetFilm School, London. Her current film has been accepted into eight film festivals as it continues the global festival circuit.

She has a wide variety of experience including working as an EMT-B in Cayman and New York, serving as a US Air Force transport specialist, years of performance in Cayman and abroad, and directing multiple stage shows and films. She is a former youth director for the Cayman Heart Fund and is a board member for the Zak Quappe Flight Scholarship.
