(CNS Local Life): The Pines Retirement Home has been gifted a truck to help the organisation conduct its day-to-day operations more efficiently. The vehicle, presented by Maples Group, will assist with routine deliveries, collection of food supplies and household donations that are needed to care for the residents on a daily basis.

The vehicle will also aid in transporting medical equipment to and from the home as well as residents to and from medical appointments.

Andre Ebanks, Deputy Chief Officer in the Ministry of Community Affairs, was instrumental in organising this sponsorship, working closely with Maples to determine local community projects and also with The Pines Retirement Home to identify funding and support requirements, stated a press release.

“We are so blessed to have an organisation such as Maples Group who supports our mission for the care of older persons in the Cayman Islands,” said Lynda Mitchell, Manager of The Pines Retirement Home. “We have a long-standing partnership with them and our board of directors, residents and staff are most grateful for the donation of this new vehicle and for their continued support.”

Paul Lumsden, managing partner of Maples’ Cayman legal services division, said the firm was “pleased to continue to support The Pines Retirement Home and hope that the new vehicle will enhance the overall care of the residents. Their continued efforts to provide critical care and services to our senior community members is very important to us.”

The Maples Group and members of staff have been devoted supporters of The Pines Retirement Home for many years, the release said. Support has included providing funding for the home’s new building, volunteering with the organisation at the yearly Thanksgiving Day luncheon, decorating the home during Christmas and serving as board members.
