Little League team attends ESPN event in Florida
(CNS): A Cayman Islands Little League Association under-16 team recently attended the 2016 ESPN International Salute to Baseball Tournament in Orlando, Florida, with the help of sponsorship from Ogier. The Cayman group participating in the event comprised 11 players, and five coaches and team assistants. The players gained valuable competitive experience at the international level.
One of the team’s games was played in the ESPN World of Sports Professional Stadium, which serves as the spring training facility for the Atlanta Braves Major League Baseball team.
Little League team coordinator Latoya McField said, “The boys got to meet, interact and form bonds with other players within their division… Our boys have had an experience they will remember forever. They are already asking about when they can do another tournament. They now know what they are up against out there and are preparing to train even harder. It gives them something to look forward to.”
She also thanked Ogier for supporting the team.
Ogier partner Rachael Reynolds said, “We are proud to support the Little League Association. This organisation provides a healthy environment for children from all backgrounds to come together, work as a team and enjoy the sport of baseball. The tournament was a great opportunity for the kids to learn and compete on an international stage.”
