Footloose steps on stage at the Playhouse
(CNS Local Life): Tickets are now on sale for the Cayman Drama Society (CDS) production of “Footloose – The Musical”. The show, with lyrics by Dean Pitchford and music by Tom Snow, is based on the 1980s hit film. With a cast of more than 30 performers, the show will be presented at the Prospect Playhouse on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, plus Sunday matinees, from 1-24 June.
The story celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, and guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind, stated a CDS press release.
The show is directed by Katie Cummins, who is head of drama at Cayman Prep and High School, with Sophie Gough the creative director and choreographer, and Arek Nicholson the musical director. Producers Andrew and Beverly Edgington said in the press release that they are excited to be able to bring to the Cayman audience some new talent in this amazing cast.
The lead roles of Ren McCormack and Ariel Moore are being played by Jardel McIntosh and Sophie Gough, with Mike Bishop taking the role of the Reverend Shaw Moore, and Wendy Moore as his loving wife, Vi.
Recently returning to Cayman after studying in Canada, Matthew Pellow plays Travis, supporting Jason Howard from Z99, who takes on the role of Chuck. Ariel’s best friends are played by CDS newcomers Lauren Sonnen and Suzi Culbert.
Doors open 6:30pm with the show starting 7.30pm; for the Sunday matinees doors open 4pm with the show starting 5pm.
