Time to make a splash at sea swim
(CNS Local Life): The annual Flow 800m Sea Swim takes place Saturday, 13 May, with a 4pm start time. Registration will be open from 3-3:45pm for the loop course, which starts and ends at Governor’s Beach. The Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association (CIASA) sea swims attract both competitive and non–competitive swimmers of all ages.
The family-friendly event enables parents to set an example of healthy living by swimming with their children. Entry fees are $10 for children and $15 for adults (CIASA members) and $15 for children and $20 for adults (non-members).
CIASA President Michael Lockwood said of his association’s events: “There has been a break since the last sea swim in March. There are two 800m sea swims in May, with the Flow 800m swim and one more before the Flowers One Mile, 5K and 10K swims in June.
“These races are a great warm-up for novice and competitive swimmers alike. We thank Flow for providing this opportunity and look forward to seeing everyone back in the water on May 13.”
All swimmers are given swim caps, which must be worn for safety reasons, and there are event T-shirts and trophies for the top three male and female finishers in each age group, with refreshments provided at the end of the race.
