Caitlin Tyson crowned Miss Cayman
(CNS Local Life): Caitlin Tyson, 24, was crowned Miss Cayman Islands 2018 at a pageant held Saturday, 11 August. In addition to getting the opportunity to represent Cayman at the Miss Universe competition set for Bangkok, Thailand, in December, Tyson was awarded a $70,000 Ministry of Tourism scholarship.
The budding actress and model, who studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, also took home the Best Smile award.
Josani Schneider and Tiffany Conolly were named first and second runners-up, respectively, at the pageant held at the Westin resort. Schneider also won the Best in Gown award.
Contestant Vanessa Douglas won Miss Congeniality, and Nateisha Foster took home both Best Legs and Miss Photogenic.
In an earlier interview posted on the Miss Cayman Islands Facebook page, Tyson credited her mother, Catherine, as her biggest motivation; her father, David, passed away when she was 12. Despite that tragedy, Tyson said her mom “was always there for me and my brothers, and she just showed me what a superwoman really is. I’ve been inspired by her every day.”
