Dress down to support Meals on Wheels
(CNS Local Life): Cayman Islands Meals has set its annual “Seniors Rock Dress Down Day” for Friday, 27 September. The non-profit is encouraging individuals, businesses, schools and organisations island-wide to participate in the fundraising event, with all money raised helping to support Meals on Wheels in providing more than 48,000 meals each year.
Youth Congress held ahead of international camp
(CNS Local Life): A group of 87 Cayman youth and youth counsellors are heading to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Sunday, 11 August, joining some 50,000 other Pathfinders from more than 100 countries at the “Pathfinder Camporee”, which has become “a leadership and spiritual rite-of-passage for youth and adults”, organisers said.
Maples presents truck to The Pines
(CNS Local Life): The Pines Retirement Home has been gifted a truck to help the organisation conduct its day-to-day operations more efficiently. The vehicle, presented by Maples Group, will assist with routine deliveries, collection of food supplies and household donations that are needed to care for the residents on a daily basis.
EY donates to Jasmine, encourages others to help
(CNS Local Life): EY Cayman has donated US$10,000 to Jasmine (formerly Cayman HospiceCare) to help finance its mission of providing care to people in the Cayman Islands living with long-term or end-stage conditions. The facility offers support to people experiencing debilitating pain, as well as specialist comprehensive hospice care to those living with life-limiting illness.
No medals but athletes look to better results at Games
(CNS Local Life): Three of Cayman’s athletes were competing on land and in the water on Tuesday, 6 August, the 14th day of action at the Pam Am Games in Lima, Peru. While no one came away with a medal, there were some personal bests achieved and still opportunities for better finishes at upcoming races.
