(CNS): The Cayman Islands Crisis Centre (CICC) is encouraging people to sign up for their annual Jingle Bell 5K 10K Walk/Run, which will take place at the start of the festive season on Sunday 1 December. Funds raised will go towards building a new shelter for local victims and their children, as the current facility no longer meets the needs and the increase of victims that are seeking shelter, according to a CICC release.

The event, which raises critical funding for the centre, will begin and end at Holiday Inn, Safe Haven, with a breakfast will follow along with an opportunity to meet Santa.

A release from the CICC noted that the organisation works tirelessly towards bringing an end to domestic violence and abuse.

Michelle Lockwood, CICC Board Member and Chair of the Fundraising Committee said, “The Jingle Bell run is our longest running fundraiser, with walkers and runners embracing the festivities that the holiday season brings. We are moved every year by the generosity and support of our sponsors, participants and volunteers as we recognise the power and unity a community can create when moving together.”

2018 was the event’s largest turnout to date, with over 550 participants, and the CICC hopes to have even more this year. Raffle prizes will be available for race participants and this year there will be a special prize for the best decorated tree race shirt.

Registration is now open here. CI$25 pre-registration and CI$30 day of the event.

Sponsorship opportunities for all levels are available to support this event.
