Cricket event scores for National Trust
(CNS): A recent cricket fun day and corporate sixes tournament benefitted the sport as well as the George Town District Committee of the National Trust. Cayman Cricket (formerly the Cayman Islands Cricket Association (CICA)) and the committee partnered to put on the event.
The district committee plans to use its portion of the funds raised to help enhance the Fort George historic site and Dr. Roy’s ironshore site in an effort to make both places more user-friendly and interesting for visitors.
“We thank Cayman Cricket for teaming up with the National Trust as we raise funds for other projects such as planting native trees, adding interpretive signage for places of historic interest and photographing and recording historical data for updates to the National Trust Historic Register website,” said George Town District Committee Chair Suzan Merren.
C3 Pure Fibre placed first in the cricket competition, which included teams from MaplesFS, The Security Centre, Health City Cayman Islands and the Police Welfare Club.
Ainsley Hall was named the best batsman of the final, winning an Apple TV. Nkrumah Morgan earned the best bowler nod and received a gift certificate from Sports Supply.
Players and spectators also enjoyed a fish fry, Gino’s pizza stall, a bar and entertainment. Each team was provided equipment, umpires, lunch, refreshments and T-shirts.
Cayman Cricket president Abali Hoilett said he “looks forward to making this event a permanent fixture on our calendar as we further our community outreach”.
