Quiz fundraiser assists Sailing Club
(CNS Local Life): Members of Cayman’s hedge fund industry tested their knowledge of trivia for a good cause when the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) earlier this summer held a fundraising quiz to support the Cayman Islands Sailing Club (CISC) and its youth programmes. Along with a raffle, the event raised $3,589 for the club, which used the money to transform the organisation’s gravel shoreline into a smooth surface suitable for youngsters to prepare sailing boats for launch.
Held on 13 June at the George Town Yacht Club, the Cayman Islands branch of AIMA organised the quiz for 16 of its member firms. CISC Rear Commodore, Alun Davies, who was a founding member of the Cayman Islands AIMA Chapter and is involved in all the club’s fundraising activities, said in a press release, “The sailing club has a booming youth programme which is great but this comes at a cost, so the club is extremely grateful to receive a donation of this size from AIMA which has meant the kids now have a new smooth patio on which to rig their boats which has gone down so well with them all.’
Handing over the cheque on behalf of AIMA were chairman Russell Burt of Marbury Fund Services, deputy chair Ronan Guilfoyle from Calderwood and committee member Richard Scott-Hopkins from KPMG.
Cayman Islands AIMA members participating in the fundraising quiz were Danesmead, KPMG, EY, Maples, Deloitte, Walkers, Citco, Ogier, Harbour Trust, DMS, Five Continents, Highwater, Atlantic, Campbells, Harneys and Appleby.
