National Gallery nourishes mind and body
NGCI Art Café patrons can eat in the breezeway
(CNS): The National Gallery of the Cayman Islands (NGCI) has launched a new Art Café menu which promotes organic wellness and offers a wide variety of beverages, snacks for kids and adults, and fresh lunch items and breakfast pastries.
Supported by Kirk Market, proceeds from the Art Café go towards free public programming and the National Gallery’s mission to promote the appreciation and practice of the visual arts of and in the Cayman Islands.
NGCI director Natalie Urquhart explained, “Funds raised by the NGCI Art Café help us fund free public programming and free admission for everyone. Since moving into our new purpose-built facility in 2012, our strategic goals have been to diversify revenue streams to maintain a truly sustainable non-profit organisation.
“We have a gallery store, offer facility rentals, run private tours and are now pleased to be able to offer breakfast and lunch to our visitors.”
Guests can spend their lunch touring the NGCI permanent collection and temporary exhibitions before heading to the café. Overlooking the Deutsche Bank Sculpture Gardens, the café offers the opportunity to enjoy local art and fauna.
For visitors on the go, packed lunches are available and orders can be called in ahead of time for pick up. “We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy an excellent selection of products, new hours and a brand new approach to enhancing your visit at the National Gallery,” Urquhart said.
Food choices including fresh soups, sandwiches and wraps are available Monday to Saturday from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Reservations are recommended for groups of four or more.
