National Gallery celebrates local caregivers

(CNS): The local gallery will celebrate local caregivers and nurses with a special Art Talk event next week, officials said. A special coffee morning on 12 May, which is International Nurses Day, at the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands has been organized along with an appreciation breakfast and guided tour of the Permanent Collection.
“Every day nursing staff across the world give support for life’s challenges – from the day a newborn comes into the world, to the days when a loved one passes. It is so important that we celebrate those who have dedicated their lives to improving the health and the people of the Cayman Islands,” explains NGCI Education Coordinator, Kerwin Ebanks. “The National Gallery would like to do our part by celebrating the selfless dedication that caregivers show us each day by inviting these exceptional individuals to an appreciation breakfast and special Art Talk.”
Celebrated around the world, International Nurses Day marks the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth. A celebrated British social reformer, Nightingale paved the way for modern nursing and raised the profile of nursing globally.
The National Gallery is working alongside the Pink Ladies Volunteer Corps Cayman Islands, Sunrise Adult Training Centre, Cayman Islands Nurses Association, Department of Children & Family Services, The Pines Retirement Home and Cayman Hospice Care to host an appreciation breakfast and guided tour of the Permanent Collection. The event is an extension to the bimonthly outreach programme called Art Talk sponsored by EY, which engages participants with art through discussions, networking opportunities and other activities that encourage creative and intellectual stimulation.
The special Art Talk event to celebrate International Nurses Day is set to take place Tuesday, 12 May at 9:00 AM at the National Gallery and will begin in the lower exhibition hall. Coffee, tea and pastries will be served.
