RCIPS meets with community in Little Cayman
(CNS): Inspector Wendy Parchment, area commander for the Sister Islands, recently held a public meeting on Little Cayman in which community members and police discussed how best to move forward on a number of issues. The community raised various concerns including the need for more marine enforcement on the island, speeding and its threat to cyclists and pedestrians, and needed repairs to the roads.
The community was also concerned with impacts on the environment around the island.
Those in attendance expressed satisfaction with policing on Little Cayman overall. Parchment explained that the police could work along with the district officer to address breaches of the marine law, and that she would relay their concerns about road conditions to the National Roads Authority.
The police officer has since requested radar to be equipped in a mobile unit that would enable better enforcement throughout the island.
A follow-up meeting between the police and the Little Cayman community is tentatively scheduled before the end of the year.
