MRCU adds to mosquito-fighting fleet
(CNS): The Mosquito Research and Control Unit (MRCU) has recently upgraded its fleet of foggers with two new 2016 Toyota Hilux pick-up trucks, as part of their ongoing preventative measures against the threat of the Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, vector for the Zika virus.

Brackers support DG’s 5K Challenge
(CNS): The Cayman Brac community turned out in force on Sunday, 17 April, to raise money for the 2016 Deputy Governor’s 5K Challenge. Walkers and runners converged on Cayman Brac Museum in the early morning for the route which took the 168 participants to the Catboat Plaza and back.
Former Cayman reporter joins ambulance appeal
(CNS): Former Cayman 27 reporter Kevin Watler, who recently recovered from open-heart surgery, is urging everyone to support efforts to buy a new ambulance for the Cayman Islands. Watler is a member of Cayman Heart Fund, which is running the appeal and is the chosen charity of the 2016 Deputy Governor’s 5K Challenge.
Time to sign up for the DG’s 5K Challenge
(CNS): Registration for this year’s Deputy Governor’s 5K Challenge is set to open next week. In Grand Cayman, participants can sign up at the Government Administration Building (GAB) on 7, 8, 14 and 15 April from 10am to 3pm as well as 21 and 22 April from 9am to 4 pm.

Miss Cayman Islands encouraging all to get fit
(CNS): Miss Cayman Islands Monyque Brooks will help launch the GAB Walk Run Club’s Off the Couch programme on Monday evening (29 February). Brooks, who works in the Department of Tourism, will join Deputy Governor Franz Manderson to kick-start the eight-week programme, aimed at all fitness levels from beginning walkers to seasoned runners.
