Young musicians compete for coveted award

(CNS): The eighth annual Butterfield Young Musician of the Year competition will take place on 7 May at the Prospect Playhouse. Officials said the event will consist of a wide array of musical talents and promises it to be a feast for the ears and hearts. The competition started its search in 2008 and provides a unique platform to showcase the talents of young musicians from all three islands. 

Event officials explained the competition, overseen and deliberated by well-known overseas judges, has featured many talented young people over the years and serves to encourage young people to further their studies, highlights the arts and enriches our community.

The showcase is made possible by the support of Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Ltd and the Department of Education’s National Children’s Festival.

The Butterfield Group invites all members of the public to attend the event starting at 5:30pm.

2009: Aziza La Pierre of John Gray High School/Cayman School of Pan

2010: Zoey Robinson of St. Ignatius Catholic School

2011: Isabella Rooney of Cayman Prep & High School

2012: Jaide Dixon of Clifton Hunter High School

2013: Hannah Fowler of Cayman Prep & High School

2014:  Ethan Whittaker of Cayman School of Pan.
