(CNS): The eight contestants taking part in the Miss Cayman competition were officially presented with their sponsor sashes at an event held Saturday, 10 October. About 200 people, including family, friends and other supporters, as well as Premier Alden McLaughlin, were on hand at Abacus in Camana Bay to watch each sponsor “sash” their candidate.

The winner will be crowned at the Miss Cayman pageant set for 30 January 2016.

Since July, the young women have taken part in several activities related to the pageant, including a meet and greet, orientation, runway training, photo shoots, life coaching and charitable events.

The 2016 pageant platform is the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre about which each contestant spoke at the Saturday event. The next major occasion where the women will appear is the annual Young Caymanian Leadership Awards dinner on Saturday, 17 October. The traditional trip to Cayman Brac will follow in early December.
