Auditions open for annual Rundown revue
(CNS): The Cayman National Cultural Foundation (CNCF) has put out a call for potential actors to audition this Sunday, 20 March, for the annual comedy revue, Rundown. The foundation is looking for people who want to be part of the tradition of this stage show, especially those who feel they can impersonate local politicians and/or well-known figures in Caymanian society; are character actors and people who can imitate several accents; and are strong singers.
The auditions will be held at Miss Lassie’s duplex (behind Miss Lassie’s house) at the junction of Walkers and South Sound roads, at 10am Sunday.
“While the Rundown cast is almost complete, there are still six male roles left to cast. However, strong female performers will also be considered and be selected, either for a role in the show or as understudies,” said CNCF artistic director Henry Muttoo.
He added that stage experience, while desirable, is not necessary and that all are welcome to read with the cast, for consideration.
The 2016 instalment of Rundown will be performed at the Harquail Theatre from Thursday, 12 May through Sunday, 29 May, for 10 shows only.
Rehearsals will be held over a six-week period, at the Harquail Studio Theatre.
In addition to casting actors, the production needs stage managers, backstage assistants and a whole host of volunteers for the box office, bar and CNCF shop, as well as ushers and photographers.
Anyone interested in taking part in Rundown should call 949-5477 or email Henry Muttoo to schedule an audition
