(CNS): A Cayman team comprising four athletes recently participated in the Caribbean Union of Teachers (CUT) Games, with the youngest competitor bringing home a silver medal. The biennial track-and-field competition, which brings together young athletes from throughout the Caribbean, was held in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, 15-16 July for under-9, under-11, under-13 and under-15 boys and girls. Anthony Chin Jr took silver in the under-9 boys long jump.

The competition offered great exposure for the Cayman participants, said a press release on the event. Coach Anthony Chin and team manager Elizabeth Ibeh accompanied the athletes.

Cydonie Mothersill, acting president of the Cayman Islands Athletic Association (CIAA), said of the competition: “The CIAA is extremely proud of all our athletes who represented us at the CUT Games. We had several top eight finishers in their respective events in what was a very competitive competition. It is a great showing for the development of track and field in the Cayman Islands. Special congratulations our sole medalist Anthony Chin Jr.”
