Flowers directs commercials with local crew
(CNS Local Life): Director Frank E Flowers was recently back in Cayman, partnering with a local production company to shoot a series of commercials. Pre-production on the ads began in September with four commercials filmed last month across seven locations over three consecutive days. Native son Flowers said of the effort, “This completely local production brought together a brilliant array of talent both in front of and behind the camera.”
One of the sets featured the work of local artist Shane “Dready” Aquart, who contributed a piece from the National Gallery collection.
Badir Awe of the local filmmaking company, Awesome Productions, said, “It was great having Frankie direct a Cayman crew. We were able to keep pace with him, arranging the lighting schemes and setting up the camera equipment. I’m proud of our crew. Each member rose to the challenge, professionally and effectively. Our synergy improves with each project.”
The 17-member crew comprised an art designer, camera assistants and lighting crew, wardrobe stylist, audio engineer, makeup artist and producers, with Caymanian Brittany Kelly of Strike Twice Creative the first assistant director.
In addition, 40 actors auditioned for roles in the commercials, with 20 chosen for the production.
The spots for Flowers Bottled Water are expected to air next year.
