(CNS Local Lie): The 2018 DG’s 5K Challenge raised $89,000 for five charitable causes, which all focus on feeding the most vulnerable in the community. The grand total is $29,000 more than the goal Deputy Governor Franz Manderson set for the event, which was held in April.

Cayman students place 2nd at tourism competition

Brac tea party celebrates Queen

Emergency exercise conducted at Brac airport
(CNS Local Life): The Cayman Islands Airports Authority (CIAA) led an emergency preparedness exercise at the Charles Kirkconnell International Airport on Cayman Brac last week. The simulated emergency comprised a rapidly unfolding terrorist situation involving two vicious thugs, the hijacking of a small commercial flight, shootouts, fatalities and more than 12 people taken as hostages.

(CNS Local Life): Weeks after announcing that the 2018 CayFilm Cayman International Film Festival was cancelled, festival director Tony Mark has confirmed that the show will go on (again), albeit on a smaller scale. The five local films that were submitted for this year’s festival will be screened on Friday, 29 June.
