DG’s 5K Challenge raises $89k for charities
(CNS Local Lie): The 2018 DG’s 5K Challenge raised $89,000 for five charitable causes, which all focus on feeding the most vulnerable in the community. The grand total is $29,000 more than the goal Deputy Governor Franz Manderson set for the event, which was held in April.

Cayman students place 2nd at tourism competition
(CNS Local Life): Students from the Cayman Islands School of Hospitality Studies (SHS) earned second place in the annual Caribbean Student Colloquium as part of the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s (CTO) Caribbean Week events earlier this month in New York. (CNS Local Life): Weeks after announcing that the 2018 CayFilm Cayman International Film Festival was cancelled, festival director Tony Mark has confirmed that the show will go on (again), albeit on a smaller scale. The five local films that were submitted for this year’s festival will be screened on Friday, 29 June.
