CIPS issues Cayman Airways stamp collection
(CNS Local Life): The Cayman Islands Postal Service has releases a new collection of four stamps to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Cayman Airways Ltd (CAL) that each depict an aircraft in CAL’s current fleet.
According to a government release, the 25¢ stamp features the Boeing 737-300, which CAL has operated for several years. The 80¢ stamps features the Boeing 737-800, which was added to the fleet in late 2016 and marked the start of CAL’s fleet modernisation plan. The other two stamps features aircraft used for Sister Islands Service, with the De Havilland DHC 6 Twin Otter on the $1 stamp and the Saab 340B+ on the $1.50 stamp.
CIPS has also issued a self-adhesive booklet of the 25¢ stamps and a Souvenir Sheet to celebrate the Cayman Airways milestone, which are sold separately. The Souvenir Sheet includes a $2 stamp with the 50th anniversary logo.
Additionally, a First Day Cover (FDC) is being issued with the stamps at a sale price of $4.35 for collectors.
The set also provides interesting historical information about Cayman Airway’s fleet, as well as details about its fleet modernisation plan.
All the stamps were created in collaboration with Cayman Airways, and are available for purchase at all post offices in the Cayman Islands.
The FDC issue is also available at the Philatelic Bureau at the Seven Mile Beach Post Office located in West Shore Centre, at the General Post Office and the Hell Post Office.
Can I order these stamps/first day cover if I live in the U.S.? Thank you.
