Raffle winner drives off with car
(CNS Local Life): A raffle organised by the Breast Cancer Foundation of Cayman (BCF) as part of their annual gala and fundraiser brought in $25,000 to the non-profit, with Bernice Scott named the winner of a Jeep Wrangler. The draw was held at the annual Breast Cancer Gala on 6 October, which raised more than $300,000 on the night.
Tony Williams, owner of Tony’s Toys, bought the car and, together with his staff, completely upgraded the Jeep including wrapping it with pink ribbon and BCF decals and branding, stated a foundation press release.
Williams then donated the car to the BCF, which sold 1,000 raffle tickets over six weeks, raising $25,000.
“I was thrilled to win the Jeep. It was such a delight after a long hard week at work,” said Scott. “More impressive, though, was the real spirit of the event and the amazing generosity of the attendees. It really showed the Caymankind spirit.”
Janette Fitzgerald, BCF chief administrator, added, “All of us at the foundation cannot thank Tony enough for his tremendous generosity with this incredible donation. We would like to congratulate Bernice Scott who was the winner of the Jeep.”
BCF co-founder and board member Kim Lund said, “This one-of-a-kind Jeep was a show stopper at this year’s gala,” as he thanked Williams and his staff.
