New tourism ambassador named

(CNS Local Life): Leanna Allen, a student of Clifton Hunter High School, earned the title of Tourism Ambassador at the annual Tourism Speak-Off held Friday, 2 November. Allen will represent the Cayman Islands throughout 2019 at various tourism events locally and at select international forums.
The speak-off is a programme that encourages tourism awareness from a local and global perspective among students and is hosted by the Ministry and Department of Tourism as well as the Cayman Islands Tourism Association, stated a DoT press release.
The competition has been a part of the DoT’s local tourism-awareness programme since 2003. In addition, theobjective is to assist young students to develop useful communication, reasoning and public-speaking skills that will serve them throughout their lives academically and professionally, the press release said.
