Cayman Arts Festival offers something extra
(CNS Local Life): The 2019 eXtra Cayman Arts Festival (CAF), set for 5-9 February, will showcase both international and local musical talent and, for the first time, CAF and Jubilate will be hosting a fringe event featuring students from their after-school programmes. Among the performers planned for the festival are the Island Brass Quintet, British flutist Nick Cartledge, and KT Sullivan and four of her New York Cabaret colleagues – Marissa Mulder, Natalie Douglas, Danny Bacher and Jon Weber.
Over the years CAF said it has encouraged all performers to hold educational and cultural workshops for the students of the Cayman Islands. During the 2019 festival, the main performers will present free educational concerts for students from both public and private schools.
At the 2018 CAF, there were 12 events over 10 days, with 20 artists performing for the more than 1,500 people who attended the festival. In addition, more than 150 people went to the fringe events and more than 300 children attended the youth-oriented events.
