(CNS Local Life): University
College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) students Reon Porter and Leah Robinson are
representing Cayman at the 15th Regional Youth Parliament set for Wednesday, 17
July and organised as part of the 44th annual conference of the Caribbean,
Americas and Atlantic Region of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association
(CPA), being held 14-19 July in Trinidad and Tobago.
Youth participants will
debate an immigration-related topic, “Securing our borders to mitigate the
effects of crime whilst striving to meet our humanitarian obligations.”
Both Porter and Robinson
participated in this year’s Youth Parliament conducted by the Cayman Islands branch
of the CPA on Commonwealth Day, Monday, 12 March.
The duo, who has
been working to prepare for their presentations, departed Tuesday, 16 July, for
Trinidad for the event that is being held in the Parliament Chamber in
Port-of-Spain.
