DoE recycles over 300lbs of fishing line
(CNS Local Life): Since the Department of Environment (DoE) installed fishing line recycling bins around the Cayman Islands at dive shops, docks and boat ramps, the team has collected more than 300lbs, saving many miles of the nylon twine from hurting the local marine life. The line is then shipped overseas for recycling with help from the Department of Environmental Health (DEH) and US recycling company, Berkley Fishing. The collected line is recycled into products such as artificial fish habitats.
Fishing line takes over 600 years to degrade and poses a serious threat to fish and sea turtles, which can become entangled in discarded line. Several turtles have drowned or sustained severe flipper injuries in local waters after getting caught in the line.

DEH should also install plastic bottle recycling bins at supermarkets and other places across the three islands to collect the millions of water bottles discarded annually.
People should just start carrying their own water with them.
