Rundown celebrates 25 years of shows
(CNS Local Life): Rundown, the annual music and comedy revue, has opened at the Harquail Theatre, marking its 25th anniversary. Designed and directed by Henry Muttoo, the Cayman National Cultural Foundation (CNCF) production is a combination of comedy and song with a series of loosely linked skits and calypsos about life in the Cayman Islands. The running social commentary takes a comedic look at relevant issues, with one of the annual recurring themes Cayman’s multicultural mix with its many accents and resulting misunderstandings.
Dubbed the “election edition” with voters heading to the polls next month, audiences should expect the cast to poke fun at the political “silly season”, stated a CNCF press release. Returning will be perennial Rundown cast members such as Matt Brown, Leroy Holness, Lesley-Ann Bernard, Rita Estevanovich, Giselle Webb and Jevaughnie Ebanks. This year’s show will include the introduction of newcomer 14-year-old Aiden Watler.
Rundown runs Fridays through Sundays until 14 May, with Friday and Saturday shows beginning at 8pm and Sunday shows at 6pm. In addition to the 10 shows in Grand Cayman, there will be one performance on Cayman Brac, with the date to be confirmed.
Tickets are $25 for adults, and $15 for seniors (65+) and children under 12, and can be purchased at the CNCF Box Office, Foster’s Food Fair (The Strand), Funky Tang’s and Health Care Pharmacy in Grand Harbour.
Tickets can also be reserved by calling 949-5477 or purchased online at the CNCF website.
