Breeze Fusion walk/run benefits Brac Lions Club
(CNS Local Life): The second annual Brac Breeze Fusion 5K Walk/Run, held Saturday, 25 November at South Side Public Beach, attracted more than 70 runners and walkers, comprising students, civil servants and tourists. In repeat wins, students Sean-Douglas Valentine and Madi Brandes again clinched the top spots in the overall male and female divisions.
Visitor Michael Rosen, who finished second overall, just behind Valentine, said, “I first heard about the Cayman Brac 5K the night before. I was going to run anyway, so why not help out a local charity along the way? It was great fun. I enjoyed the run and staff very much.”
Radio Cayman Deputy Director Paulette Connolly-Bailey said of the event: “It was such a delight to be home on the Brac for the second annual walk/run and see how it has already grown in numbers and I was also elated at the wide age group of participants who joyfully came out to support the worthy cause.
“The team and I can’t wait for next year’s event which we hope will be bigger and better than ever.”
The Brac event, organised by Radio Cayman and Breeze FM, launched in 2016 as an extension of the annual Grand Cayman Breeze Walk/Run. Funds raised from this year’s event are being used to support the Lions Club of Cayman Brac Kids Pantry programme, which provides nutritious snacks to children who would otherwise go to school hungry.
