Food festival spices up Batabano
(CNS Local Life): As part of this year’s Cayman Carnival Batabano, the associated food festival has attracted a record 27 vendors to dish out local and Caribbean cuisine. From around noon to midnight on Saturday, 5 May, during the “Last Lap” street dance, Cardinal Avenue and Albert Panton Street will be transformed into an outdoor foodie event.
Local insurance company Saxon is the title sponsor of the food festival. “Saxon is pleased to support Batabano’s 2018 Food Festival,” said Brian Williams, company CEO, in a Batabano press release. “With over 100 nationalities living in Cayman, the Batabano Food Festival is testament to the spirit of Cayman’s history and welcoming heart.”
Held on the same day as the street parade, the the rebranded food festival will offer a wide variety of local and international cuisine from some of Cayman’s cooks and restaurants.
“The Batabano Food Festival has always been such an important part of the carnival experience in Cayman, for both locals and visitors who all look forward to it every year, so we’re thrilled to announce and welcome Saxon as the food festival’s title sponsor this year,” said Batabano chairperson Donna Myrie-Stephen.
