Law firm supports Youth Parliamentarians
(CNS Local Life): For a third straight year, Harneys is sponsoring the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Youth Parliament programme. Through this initiative, participants, aged 14-19, from both government and private high schools, are given the opportunity to gain insight into parliament, associate with peers from other schools, learn public speaking, engage in debates on topics that affect their lives, and offered a platform on which their opinion can be heard.
Zena Merren-Chin, CPA honorary secretary said in a press release, “My colleagues and I are truly grateful for the continued support of Harneys for this programme. The students that participate take great pride in preparing relevant topics to debate and trying to master parliamentary procedures and practices in the Cayman Islands (Legislative Assembly). It is really comforting that firms such as Harneys see this initiative as crucial to developing our youth.”
Nick Hoffman, Harneys partner, said the law firm was “thrilled” to support the community, particularly projects for youth. “It is great to witness this next generation of parliamentarians learn key skills that they will no doubt take with them as they develop into future leaders, we wish them every success in the course of their journey.”
