New record for Stingray Tourism Awards nominations
(CNS Local Life): The Cayman Islands Tourism Association (CITA) has received the highest number of nominations ever for the 16th annual Stingray Tourism Awards, with 88 names submitted in the various categories. Award winners will be announced at a ceremony slated for 23 July and themed “Celebrating the Magic of Tourism”.
The record-breaking number of nominations points to the tourism industry’s “growth and success”, CITA said in a press release.
This annual initiative recognises individuals who have contributed significantly in their roles as well as the Cayman Islands tourism industry in general. Nominations are taken in the categories of accommodation, allied & transportation, restaurant and watersports, as well as for long service and rising star. A Lifetime Achievement Award will also be presented to the individual who has contributed significantly to the industry over many years.
Tiffany Dixon-Ebanks, CITA executive director, said the association’s steering committee was “truly excited” about the upcoming awards ceremony and celebrating “so many talented individuals who exhibit Caymankind daily”.
She also noted the difficult selection process. “I would like to thank the review committee who has the tough job of selecting the winner in each awards category. Whomever wins, I believe each nominee should feel very proud that their colleagues put them forward for this prestigious recognition,” Dixon-Ebanks said in a press release.
The public is invited to attend the awards gala that will be held at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, starting with a cocktail reception at 6pm, followed by dinner and the presentation of awards beginning at 7pm.
Tickets, at $106 per person and $975 for a table of 10, can be purchased online at EventPro. For more information go to the CITA website.
