Weather service interns learn forecasting
(CNS Local Life): Three students have interned at the Cayman Islands National Weather Service (CINWS) this year, enabling them to gain hands-on experience in the field of forecasting. In addition to taking on interns, the service has also hosted class visits from both public and private schools.
Interns spend summer at law firm
(CNS Local Life): This summer, 18 interns were placed in Harneys’ legal, fiduciary and business support teams, where they observed the law firm’s day-to-day operations and earned practical experience. Many of the interns were returning home from university and this year the firm also welcomed a selection of mature high school students.
Credit Union awards $200k in educational grants
(CNS Local Life): A new group of students recently received funds under this year’s Cayman Islands Civil Service Association Co-operative Credit Union annual educational grant programme. A total of about $200,000 was presented to 166 students chosen out of 209 applicants. The grants come in various amounts.

Deadline nears for law school courses
(CNS Local Life): The deadline is approaching to apply to two postgraduate programmes in international finance at Truman Bodden Law School (TBLS). Students have until 31 August to submit applications for the LLM in International Finance: Law and Regulation and the postgraduate diploma in International Finance: Law and Regulation, both of which start in September.

Mentoring Cayman benefits another group of students
(CNS Local Life): As Mentoring Cayman concluded its 15th year, 43 students from public and private schools recently completed the youth empowerment and development programme. Jointly launched by the Chamber of Commerce and Ministry of Youth in 2002, the initiative has assisted more than 1,400 mentors and students in establishing trusting relationships.
