Cancer and blood specialist joins HSA full-time
(CNS Local Life): The Cayman Islands Health Services Authority (HSA) has hired Dr Lundie Richards as a full-time medical haematologist-oncologist, who can diagnose and treat various blood cancers and blood disorders. He worked previously part-time at the HSA before joining the organisation’s pathology laboratory and oncology teams full-time in August.
Alex Panton Foundation seeks ‘youth ambassadors’
(CNS Local Life): The Alex Panton Foundation (APF) is launching the Youth Ambassador Programme (YAP), aimed at promoting interpersonal and life skills, and inspiring friendships among youth in Cayman. An introductory session is scheduled for Saturday, 31 August, from 1pm-4pm at the skate park in Grand Harbour. Students aged 12-16 are welcome to participate.
St Matthew’s donates to Cayman Heart Fund
(CNS Local Life): St Matthew’s University recently donated to the Cayman Heart Fund (CHF) a portion of the funds collected through cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic life support (BLS) classes the university offers throughout the year. HSA pharmacy operations relocated for the weekend
The Cayman Islands Hospital main pharmacy operations will be relocated to the George Town General Practice Clinic for Saturday, 17 August and Sunday, 18 August due to required maintenance work. Interns gain healthcare experience at HSA
(CNS Local Life): This year’s summer internship programme at the Health Services Authority (HSA) is providing on-the-job training for 91 students considering careers in healthcare. The 2019 internship programme, running from 1 June to 15 September, had been revamped to provide select students with quality work experience that aligned with their interests and career aspirations.
Youth offered the ‘Gift of Mental Wealth’
An online funding page, with a goal of raising US$18,750, has been collecting donations for the “Gift of Mental Wealth”, which covers the cost of therapy for adolescents between 12 and 18 years old who do not have adequate insurance to meet their mental healthcare needs.
