New stamps celebrate Cayman’s shipping history
(CNS): The Cayman Islands Postal Service’s latest stamp issue commemorates the role that ships played in shaping the history and economy of the Cayman Islands. The five-stamp “Historic Ships” issue illustrates the Cayman Islands’ rich shipbuilding and seafaring culture, featuring just a few of the many schooners and ships that have been integral to Caymanian heritage.
Stingray awards nominations announced
(CNS): The Cayman Islands Tourism Association (CITA) has received the most nominees ever for this year’s Cayman Stingray Tourism Awards, which recognises talent within Cayman’s tourism sector. Now in its 13th year, the event will take place on 21 June at the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman.
U-17 National Team going to the Brac for training
(CIFA): The Under-17 Boys National Football Team will be travelling to Cayman Brac this Friday, 10 June, for an intense three-day training camp in preparation for the first round of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under-17 World Cup Playoffs, which are scheduled for 20 – 24 July at a venue still to be determined.

Attorney recognised for volunteer work
(CNS): Attorney Benjamin Woolf has received the Lee A. Freeman award for volunteering his legal services to the local community, as part of the Family Resource Centre’s (FRC) Legal Befrienders clinic. Prison Service commemorates 35th year
(CNS): HM Cayman Islands Prison Service will mark its 35th anniversary with the first formal Cayman Islands Corrections Week set for 24-30 April. HMP Northward opened on 5 June 1981, when prison officers from the UK arrived to set up the service and train local staff.

Royals pay quick visit to Cayman
(CNS): The Earl and Countess of Wessex have completed a quick visit to the Cayman Islands, arriving Sunday, 6 March, and leaving the following day. Governor Helen Kilpatrick and Premier Alden McLaughlin were among those who greeted the couple at Owen Roberts International Airport, before Prince Edward and Sophie departed for Little Cayman by private charter.
