New tourism ambassador named
(CNS Local Life): Leanna Allen, a student of Clifton Hunter High School, earned the title of Tourism Ambassador at the annual Tourism Speak-Off held Friday, 2 November. Allen will represent the Cayman Islands throughout 2019 at various tourism events locally and at select international forums.
Kids encouraged to run for fun
(CNS Local Life): Organisers of the Intertrust Cayman Islands Marathon, set for Sunday, 2 December, are again encouraging kids to take part in the largest primary school running event on island, the 2018 Milo Kids Fun Run. The activity is free and attracted more than 300 kids in 2017.
Equestrian jumping series wraps up
(CNS Local Life): This past Sunday, 4 November, marked the third and final leg of the Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation’s (CIEF) National Jumping Series for the 2018 season. Following on from the conclusion of the series, the CIEF will soon be naming champions in each jumping category.
Cayman-Jamaica connection celebrated
(CNS Local Life): The ties between the Cayman Islands and Jamaica were celebrated at a special Restaurant Month dinner on Thursday, 25 October. The meal featured a menu in which the pineapple was the star ingredient as that fruit holds great significance to both islands and is represented on both countries’ Coat of Arms.

Men’s team set for CONCACAF championships
(CIFA): The Cayman Islands Under 20 Men’s National Football Team travelled to Sunrise, Florida on Friday, 26 October, for a four-day training camp in preparation for the 2018 CONCACAF Under 20 Men’s Championships scheduled for 1-10 November at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
Cayman juniors set for Florida tennis tourney
(CNS Local Life): Four young tennis players from Cayman will be joining more than 1,000 others from around the world to compete at the Junior Orange Bowl International Tennis Championships in Florida set for 9-18 December. Cayman will be represented by Jakub Neveril, Oskar Bjuroe, Jake Booker and Willow Wilkinson.

Pirates say no to plastic
(CNS Local Life): This year’s Pirates Week Festival, which starts 2 November on Cayman Brac, is including an environmental message, with its #PiratesAgainstPlastic campaign. In addition to marking the 60th anniversary of the Cayman Islands Coat of Arms, the festival will be “Celebrating the Seas!” to raise awareness on how to reduce single-use plastics.
