Poinciana Festival ready to blossom

DG’s 5K fun run for new ambulance
(CNS): As he limbers up for this year’s 5K Challenge, Deputy Governor Franz Manderson said he is hoping the runners can raise $50,000 for the Cayman Heart Fund toward their goal of raising $150,000 to buy a new ambulance for the public hospital on Grand Cayman to replace one of the two backup ambulances.

ICCI celebrates newest graduating class
(CNS): The International College of the Cayman Islands (ICCI) held its 43rd commencement on Thursday, 4 February, at which 40 students received degrees. Four students earned the master of business administration, the highest degree offered at the college, and three others earned master’s degrees with concentrations in human resources and education management.

Young design winners get stamp of approval
(CNS): The five students who created the winning stamp designs for the 2015 special Christmas issue were recently presented with mementoes by the Cayman Islands Postal Service. Dr Roy named Cayman’s new national hero
(CNS): The Cayman Islands has a new national hero, Dr Roy Edison McTaggart, who joins the ranks of eight previous honourees, including the only living recipient, Sybil McLaughlin. The posthumous award was announced Monday, 25 January, as part of the annual National Heroes Day celebrations, which focused on honouring those who have contributed to agriculture.
