Kids learn fundamentals of coaching football

(CNS): The Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) hosted the CONCACAF Grassroots Coaching Course, from 17-19 September at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex. The programme is the foundation of football development in the Cayman Islands and is geared towards children from 5 to 12 years old.

The course was aimed at teaching the role of a coach educator, the principles of coaching, the teaching-learning process and age-appropriate training objectives and methodologies. The course, which concluded with a grassroots festival exercise, attracted 15 participants.

CIFA Acting President Bruce Blake said the association understands the importance of the national grassroots programme and is committed to ensuring that the proper fundamentals are taught to the youngsters.
