First NWDA intern pursues further education overseas
(CNS): The National Internship Programme’s first recipient has completed her work experience and headed overseas to pursue her tertiary education. Beach seaweed transformed from nuisance to fertiliser
(CNS): Cayman Turtle Farm (CTF) staff have been collecting the huge mats of brown Sargassum seaweed that have been washing up on Cayman’s shores recently to use as fertiliser. The seaweed feeds the soil with nutrients as it decomposes; reduces evaporation from the soil’s surface, thus aiding moisture retention; and helps keep weeds from growing.

Computer Services head retires after 31 years in gov’t
(CNS): Gilbert McLaughlin, the director of Computer Services, who has been with that government department for 31 years, retired on Friday, 9 October. He joined the department as a programmer in 1984, after completing his bachelor’s degree in computer science, and became its head in 1997.
