Red Bay Primary footballers remain undefeated
(PFL): The historic Annex Field was the perfect setting for some excellent youth football this past Saturday, 14 November during the sixth round of the 2015/2016 CUC Primary Football League (PFL) and Girls’ Primary Football League (GPFL) regular seasons.
The featured game in Group B saw defending Under 11 champions Red Bay Primary take on Cayman Brac. A very-much improved Brac team has played some excellent football this season and has recorded a few impressive results. Likewise, defending Under 11 champions Red Bay has not dropped a single point this season as they strive to repeat their historic title defence of last year.
As predicted, the game was fast-paced from the opening whistle. Red Bay had a chance to take the lead early in the game with a penalty but failed to convert. Minutes later, Red Bay’s marksman Alejandro Holness put his school in front with an excellent finish.
During the second half, Holness added his second of the day and goals from Dequan Messam and Jacquan Wray sealed a 4-0 victory over the Brackers.
Although on the wrong end of a 4-0 defeat, the boys from the Brac were very impressive at times as Jamar McCoy, Curtis Hunt and Cody Kirkwood tormented Red Bay’s rearguard throughout the game hitting the post on a number of occasions and forcing a number of saves from Red Bay’s goalkeeper.
In other Group B games in the PFL, it was South Sound Schools 0 vs. Prospect Primary 2 (Under 9); South Sound Schools 1 vs. Prospect Primary 4 (Under 11); Cayman Prep 1 vs. NorthEast Schools 1 (Under 9); Cayman Prep 5 vs. NorthEast Schools 1 (Under 11 – mercy rule); Triple C 5 vs. Bodden Town Primary 1 (Under 9 – mercy rule); and Triple C 3 vs. Bodden Town Primary 0 (Under 11).
In Group A action at the Annex Field, Savannah Primary’s Under 9s defeated George Town Primary 1-0 thanks to a Joshua Elliott strike.
In the Under 11 encounter, two goals each from Savannah Primary’s Immanuel Duran and Josh Gardner and a solitary strike from Jerry Gardner sealed a 4-0 mercy rule victory over George Town Primary.
In other Group A action, it was Sir John A. Cumber Primary 4 vs. Truth For Youth 0 (Under 9) and Sir John A. Cumber Primary 1 vs. Truth For Youth 1 (Under 11).
In Group A of the CUC Girls’ Primary Football League (GPFL), it was Savannah Primary 0 vs. George Town Primary 0. In Group B, Cayman Prep 4 vs. NorthEast Schools 0; Triple C 4 vs. Bodden Town Primary 0; and Prospect Primary 0 vs. Sir John A. Cumber Primary ‘B’ 4.
There are no games scheduled for this Saturday, 21 November as the government schools are on their mid-term break.
The final weekend of regular season games will take place on Saturday, 28 November, with games being played at the Annex Field, West Bay Town Hall Field, Cayman Prep, St. Ignatius Prep and Prospect Primary.
The 2015/2016 PFL and GPFL playoffs begin on Saturday, 5 December.
