Cayman Brac winners, Team Vargas, will take on four other teams in the Cupcake Wars finale

(CNS): Young pastry chefs in Grand Cayman are invited to take part in the Child Month Cupcake Wars competition. The contest, which takes place Saturday, 28 May from 10am-12pm at The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman, challenges bakers to create two cupcakes, one using fruit in the recipe and a diabetic-friendly item.

Bakers will take on the winners of the Cayman Brac challenge, Team Vargas, in the finale. The winning Brac team, comprising Jzane Vargas, Haylie Tibbetts and Jhadarie Smith, made it through the elimination round held Saturday, 30 April at the Layman E. Scott Senior High School.

Participation is free for pastry chefs ages 10-25.

The competition is sponsored by the Youth Services Unit, Kiwanis Club, Caribbean Utilities Company, Department of Children and Family Services, the Ministry of Tourism and the Layman E. Scott Senior High School.
