Arts Festival showcases international and homegrown talent
(CNS Local Life): The 2017 eXtra Cayman Arts Festival (CAF), set for 9-11 February, will feature world-class performers Dama Trio from Italy and the Juilliard Jazz Ensemble with Helen Sung, with “fringe” events showcasing local musicians and other artists, including the Cayman Youth Choir and two young vocalists – David Brown and Isabella Rooney.
Continuing a tradition of supporting various art forms in addition to music, the CAF will also include performances by students from CAF’s afterschool programme. Audiences will also be able to view a range of locally made products by the artists of the Visual Arts Society at Camana Bay as well as the National Gallery’s latest exhibition “Upon the Seas” whilst being entertained by local musicians.
Over the years during the days of the festival, CAF has encouraged all performers to hold educational and cultural workshops for Cayman’s students. For the 2017 festival, the main performers will present free educational concerts for students from both public and private schools.
Tickets for each event, which cost US$40 for adults and US$10 for students, can be purchased online. For more information on performances and a full schedule of events, go to the CAF website, call 922-5550 or email CAF.
