Any word on the status of personalised plates?
Auntie’s answer: There has been a lot of interest of late about the chip-enabled licence plates and the process of exchanging old ones for new ones.
As for your question, I have been told by an official with the Department of Vehicle and Drivers’ Licensing that DVDL is finalising new designs for the personalised plates. Once all that is done, the department is hoping to have them available for purchase. At this point, though, we are still waiting for the announcement of the release date of these plates, so that is all the information I can give you.
What if you already have a personalized plate under the old system. Would you be charged a fee for the new plates to replace your old ones?
