(CNS Local Life): Cayman’s equestrians tacked up for the start of the show jumping season, with the first leg of the 2018-19 National Jumping Series held Sunday, 23 September. Organised by the Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation (CIEF), the show was held at the Equestrian Centre. In addition to the main event, an introductory cross-rail jumping class was held in the morning for novice riders and horses, stated a CIEF press release..

Highlights of the day included wins by Olivia Ziemniak in both the 0.6m and 0.7m classes, the latter of which was “the most exciting competition of the day”, said CIEF in the release.  Four of the six entries made the jump off, and the top three placings were separated by a little more than a second.

Competing for the first time in this event were Madison Ameline, Sierra Martin, Rosana Stroh and Gina Lomas, who won the 0.6m horse class on JR Booming Gun.

The next horse show on the CIEF calendar is the second leg of the National Jumping Series, set for 14 October at the Equestrian Centre starting at 8am. Admission is free and spectators are welcome.

Winners of each class of National Jumping Series #1 were:

0.6m Pony Olivia Ziemniak riding Zeus
0.6m Horse Gina Lomas riding JR Booming Gun
0.7m Pony Olivia Ziemniak riding Zeus
0.7m Horse Abbey Swartz riding Calidad
