Equestrian jumping series wraps up
(CNS Local Life): This past Sunday, 4 November, marked the third and final leg of the Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation’s (CIEF) National Jumping Series for the 2018 season. Following on from the conclusion of the series, the CIEF will soon be naming champions in each jumping category.
Milly Serpell, who earlier this year was certified as an FEI Level 1 show jumping judge, took on the judging duties at the event, which was held at the Equestrian Centre, located on the Linford Pierson Highway.
Highlights of the day included double wins by Megan Swartz riding Fly with Me in both the 60cm and 70cm classes, stated a CIEF press release. The pair clocked the fastest jump-off time of the day in the 60cm class, winning by almost five full seconds, a margin normally unheard of in show jumping, the release said. Gina Lomas also earned two blue ribbons, one in the 70cm horse class and the other in the 90cm horse class riding JR Booming Gun and Sunday’s Edition, respectively.
CIEF is the national governing body for equestrian sport in the Cayman Islands and is a member of the Federation Equestre Internationale. The federation holds four show jumping events and three dressage shows each year that are open to all equestrians in the Cayman Islands.
The next equestrian competition on the CIEF calendar is the Cayman leg of the Caribbean Equestrian Association’s 2018 Regional Jumping Challenge, which will be held at the Equestrian Centre on Sunday, 25 November, starting at 8am. Spectators are welcome and admission is free.
Winners of each class were:
60cm Ponies | Megan Swartz riding Fly With Me |
70cm Ponies | Megan Swartz riding Fly With Me |
70cm Horses | Gina Lomas riding JR Booming Gun |
80cm Ponies | Abbey Swartz riding Blue Ridge Dream On |
