Santa’s on the way for dog charity
(CNS Local Life): Once again, Santa is going to be pulled by lit-up underwater reindeer so he can land on the George Town waterfront to help celebrate the 10th annual Scubaluminations in aid of dog-rescue charity One Dog at a Time (ODAAT). The money raised at the event, set for Thursday, 13 December, from 6pm at Rackam’s, will be used on rescued dogs from the pound as well as unwanted or stray dogs and puppies.
Caroline Johnston, ODAAT vice president, said the event will help people find their Christmas spirit. “With puppies and dogs to cuddle, as well as seeing Santa arrive in true Caymanian style, I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate,” she said.
There will be photo opportunities with Santa and his elves, and everyone is encouraged to bring dog treats, food and toys to give to the ODAAT pups, Johnston added. In addition, ODAAT dogs will be there to get petted and perhaps get adopted into a forever home.
The event will also include live music and a Christmas raffle for prizes such as nights away, clothing vouchers, household items, tank dives and restaurant vouchers.
Raffle tickets, at $5 each, can be bought ahead of time at the ODAAT shop in the JJT warehouse off Industrial Way, at Le Visage and at Island Vets. Tickets will also be available to purchase at the event.
